Collection: Struck By Light Collective

The Struck by Light collective is an international group of women experimental photographic artists who push beyond the traditional boundaries of photography.

They first came together in 2020, as the result of an open call by Hundred Heroines and renowned American experimental photographer Ellen Carey in response to the question "What does a 21st century photograph look like?".

They subsequently formed the collective to continue to support and promote each others practice, and to create opportunities to showcase their work.

They held their first Struck by Light in person exhibition at Valid World Hall Gallery, Barcelona in 2021, part of the International Experimental Photo Festival. The following year they produced a fundraiser for Ukraine, SVITLO, taking place at Looiersgracht 60, Amsterdam.

Carey created Struck By Light Collective to celebrate alternative and analogue  photography techniques, often created using natural processes. This extends to methods like Polaroid, archival pigment, cyanotype, pinhole images and other camera-less work.

The collective is comprised of the following artists, who have their work exhibited at Helm during Brighton Photo Fringe: Ellen Carey, Cristina Fontsare, Liz Harrington, Poppy Lekner, Ky Lewis, Anna Luk, Megan Ringrose and Nettie Edwards
