About the artist

Collection: Martin Robson

Martin Robson, born 1969 in Staffordshire, is a British artist known for his highly detailed wildlife paintings. Growing up on the edge of Cannock Chase, Martin developed a deep connection with nature, which fuels his passion for capturing animals in acrylics. His artistic journey began in childhood, where he spent hours sketching, refining his natural ability.

Martin spent 25 years as a graphic artist in the gaming industry before returning to his love of fine art in 2018. His detailed pet portraits and wildlife scenes showcase his meticulous craftsmanship, particularly through his focus on lighting and shadows. The eyes are central to Martin’s work, as he believes they hold the key to expressing the subject’s spirit.

Martin’s art combines precision with dynamic compositions, using carefully selected photographs to bring his subjects to life. Working primarily in acrylics, he pays close attention to lighting, shadows, and textures, creating a realistic yet bold portrayal of animals. His larger works often take weeks to complete, demanding a high level of concentration.
