We are thrilled to announce our upcoming exhibition 'From Then On' with Brighton graffiti legend AROE.
AROE has spent decades spearheading an innovative and ground-breaking approach to graffiti. Utilising mixed-media, augmented reality, spray paint and textural elements, he is one of the few artists that can confidently convey the rawness of graffiti on canvas, his expert technique and uncompromising nature has garnered him a significant following and made his work highly collectable.
Throughout his career he’s constantly evolved, including different characters, imagery, techniques and references during different phases of his career as well as turning his hand to painting all kinds of surfaces. His eclectic career and relentless productivity has culminated in his debut solo show at Helm gallery titled ‘From Then On’.
Showing between the 31st January and 2nd March, ‘From Then On’ represents a first for AROE. Cataloguing his stylistic evolution, you’ll find all of his signature imagery spread across our exhibition hall, creating a singular, fragmented mural showcasing his decades of lived experience at the forefront of counter-culture.
From his iconic B-boys and Grace Jones references to images of At-Ats and Mike Tyson flowing into his later abstractions and chess pieces, each of the available works will represent a unique snapshot of an incredibly storied career.
