About the artist
Kenny Scharf
Kenny Scharf is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Los Angeles, California. He works mainly consist of large-scale installations, sculptures and painted works using aerosol.
Kenny's output and influence cannot be overstated, his loud and unapologetic depictions of alien-like creatures and luminescent, cosmic installations has garnered him a reputation for being one of the most eccentric and distinctive artists of the last 30 years. Much like his contemporary Keith Haring (whom Scharf lived and worked with in New York) his work has bled effortlessly into the modern arts scene, informing and inspiring innumerable artists in his wake. The guiding principle of Kenny's work is to reach out beyond the elitist boundaries of fine art and connect to popular culture through his art.
Kenny Scharf has exhibited internationally with artists such as Basquiat and Keith Haring, and worked with brands such as Dior on capsule collections. His work continues to grow in prestige, having been featured heavily in Saatchi's 'Beyond the streets' exhibition, he remains an essential part of any contemporary art collection.
