James Tebbutt

About the artist

James Tebbutt

James Tebbutt is a British contemporary artist from Northampton. They specialise in stream of consciousness painted works that play on texture, colour and abstraction to create eclectic compositions that swing from patches of meticulous detail to free-form splashes of paint, giving the finished works the feel of a mind-map or study.

The paintings are not planned through to completion before they are started and instead evolve organically, what others might perceive as ‘mistakes’ are left on the raw canvas, becoming part of the finished work and conversing with the more fine-tuned areas of detail. His works subsequently have no specific narrative and can be interpreted in countless ways, each element jostling for position and steering the viewer to a different conclusion.

James has shown his work nationally, having also done commissions for private and corporate clients, his unique aesthetic makes him a must-watch artist for any collector.
