About the artist
Vincent Kamp
Surrey-born artist Vincent Kamp is acknowledged as one of the UK’s most exciting figurative oil painters. Fascinated by the dark, gritty underground world of urban-subculture, his paintings delve beneath the surface of social class.
Heavily influenced by cinema and storytelling, he often writes a complete screenplay before setting out to cast characters for his paintings. In recent years he wrote, produced, and directed the short film Queen of Diamonds, starring Georgia May Foote and Tamar Hassan. He followed with the Queen of Diamonds series of paintings.
His multitude of sell-out exhibitions include Diamond Roulette at the Ritz Casino London, his barbershop-inspired series, Fear and Loathing in East London, and Inspired Lives, a celebration of the pianist/songwriter Ruben James.
His 2018 interactive solo show, The Long Game, was comprised of thirty paintings, depicting a gangland poker game that ends in an explosion of violence. His most recent exhibition was After Hours, a successful show held on Long Acre in London's Covent Garden.
Vincent's series of original oils based on celebrity chefs is available exclusively to Helm Gallery. Inspired by the TV series 'The Bear', Vincent embarked on this project, studying the characters you can find in the high stakes seemingly frantic environment of the kitchen of celebrated award winning restaurants. He was personally invited into the chefs personal spaces to study them at work, painting the likes of Ben Murphy, Tom Brown and Adam Byatt (to name but a few).
Vincent has a loyal following amongst figurative fine art collectors, with a very successful run of bespoke commissions spanning the last 10 years. Vincent is happy to discuss any personal project that you have in mind. Please enquire with the gallery team for further details.
